Prior to joining Legal & General Retirement America, Carl held senior risk management positions at Principal Financial Group. He joined Principal International as Chief Risk Officer and then as Head of Financial Risk Management, where he was responsible for overseeing the group`s investment risk management, ALM, derivatives, stress testing, economic capital modelling and the US ORSA. Prior to his role as a Director, Carl was Head of the Insurance Industry Risk Management Consulting Practice at KPMG. Carl Groth is Chief Risk Officer for Legal & General Retirement America. In this role, he oversees and maintains governance, analysis, compliance and risk control frameworks across all U.S. retirement operations. In addition, he provides appropriate independent advice, supervision, challenges and supports Legal & General`s global risk management team. Knight was previously chief executive officer of L&G`s retail annuity business, a role taken over by Andrew Kail. “Our long-term goal is to have a risk function that allows Legal & General Retail to deliver in a solid and secure manner.” Ms. Brown has 12 years of experience in operational risk management and, after joining the company in 2017, she has held several leadership positions in the area of operational risk, most recently leading the Operational Risk and Conduct team in the Insurance Division. Brown will assume the newly created role of Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of UK Protection and Fintech and Head of IT And Data Protection Risk.
The Director of PRIVACY AND RISK component aims to establish a centre of excellence for technical support and consultation across the division and will include support on the path to agile work. Chris Knight has taken on a new role as Group Chief Risk Officer for Legal and General (L&G). Legal & General has appointed Stefana Brown to take over the risk oversight of the UK protection business. Previously, she held operational risk positions at Lloyds Banking Group and M&G Investments. “Both components of my work will allow me to work with the entire company and support an effective risk culture that is critical to business performance while delivering fair outcomes to clients,” she said.
