Jurisdictions that have adopted the UBE accept transferred scores that meet their own standards of pass, regardless of whether the candidate`s score matches the test jurisdiction`s pass standard. A law school graduate who graduates from UBE may report their UBE score to any other UBE jurisdiction, and that jurisdiction will recognize them. If the candidate`s UBE score is equal to or greater than the intersection of that jurisdiction, the candidate may be admitted to that jurisdiction.
Scores in UBE jurisdictions range from 260 to 280. The NCBE`s instructions for answering MEE questions state that candidates must demonstrate their ability to reason and analyse. Successful responses to the essay must demonstrate an understanding of the facts (so it is important to read the questions carefully), an acknowledgement of the problems raised by the facts, knowledge of the applicable legal principles, and the reasoning that leads to a conclusion. It is more important to identify the legal issues raised in the facts, to present the law relevant to those issues, and to show how that law applies to the facts of the problem than the conclusions you come to. The NCBE emphasizes that while clarity and conciseness are important, responses must be complete. It is also recommended that test writers do not intentionally provide irrelevant or intangible information.
